Another variation of our popular Fernside High Performance Plan, this mirror design was adapted to better suit both the homeowners’ lifestyle and their section within a Rangiora subdivision.
The kitchen remains central to the living space, but the mid half-wall has been removed to create a more open living area and allow greater flexibility for furniture placement. Storage cupboards originally located in the hallway were also removed, helping expand the main living space. One of the more significant changes was the addition of an internal laundry, achieved by extending the garage slightly and reducing the covered outdoor area, a trade-off that allowed the design to fit comfortably on the chosen section while prioritising the features most important to the owners.
The homeowners, a retired couple, placed a strong emphasis on comfort and energy efficiency. They selected a number of high-performance upgrades including graphite SIPs construction, triple-glazed uPVC windows and a hot water heat pump.
Our team also worked closely with them to identify a section within their preferred subdivision that could accommodate the Fernside design and its modifications.
